AOF Long Course Nationals
Two boats that saw a lot of time on the water were Bob VanOver's
I/O, our first turn boat with Bob as turn judge, and the IOA
Safety Boat, which milled in the middle with an EMT and two drivers.
John
Krob, in from Iowa for his first nationals, was a welcome addition.
John was a willing worker and an enthusiastic racer who fielded both an
80 and a 102 Yamato.
A
Hydro: Tom Sutherland, 40-M, Chelsea, Michigan,
holds the lead out of turn 2 to take the overall win.
A
Runabout: Chip Chapman leads the pack into the first turn but
the overall win went to Chip's fellow Floridian Tony Staron
(outside, in yellow garb).
G
is for George: Indianapolis native George Simpson,
4-G and 5-G, took titles in C Hydro and D Hydro.
Super
E Runabout and Super E Hydro titles went home with Ralph
Cook.
In
the hunt: Burt Hoefs campaigned a new Mason-built craft in Super
E Hydro.
Usually
a dominator in the B1 Hydro shown here, Ron Whittaker
of Mexico, Missouri captured a B Hydro championship instead.
It
corners like a hydro oughta: The 38-M boat of David Mason,
Battle Creek, Michigan.
